Lighting Halogen MR16 Bulbs

Lighting with halogen low voltage MR16 bulbs are similar to Par 36 and AR111 bulbs. They have smaller point source and have a more controlled lenses. The reflector optical system are well suited for a higher level of ambient illumination. It can be used in a more compact track head or recess fixture so they are less obtrusive and intergrates into great home design options.

The halogen MR16 12 volt bulbs need a step down transformer. You should first decide the best type of transformer to use. Transformers be bought on the fixtures themselves or hidden and wired to all the fixtures from a center transformer. If you intend to use only one transformer, you must add up the wattages and choose the appropriate load size to use.

The low voltage MR16 is a good bulb to use when you are wall washing or grazing. It will help you achieve a layering look with the use of a dimmer. They will help create the illusion of ceiling height and spaceiousness. Giving it more depth and interest. Use to precisely highlight artwork, sculptures and architectual details.

Low voltage MR16 bulbs are considerable brighter than PAR 36 and AR111, for spot distributions they produce more usable light per wattage of energy than comparable wattage halogen PAR bulbs. They have a wider range of beam spread and they can create a more dramtic effect with a wide variety of precisely controlled intense beam spread.

Using MR16 you will have a wide range of control and color correction lens accessories for special situations. The infrared heat produced by the bulb is reflected back onto the filament, enabling it to burn hotter and brighter, improving energy efficiency up to 30%. They are commonly available with dichroic reflector coating that allows the infrared energy to pass out the back of the bulb projecting mostly visible light forward. This reduces heat on objects and people. Thes bulbs will help give an object a three dimensional form and textured accenting to create shadows and highlight on a focal object. Then fill in on both sides using a dimmer to soften shadows giving the object a more natural appearance.
